(And) since we care and want to share we ask you now to join us (3X)

Let’s crack the door, a little more, let good folks come in

E/Bsus2                C/Gsus2                 G                   D/Asus2

When our children speak the truth and show us again who we really are

E/Bsus2           C/Gsus2                G                 D/Asus2

(Are) we gonna face ourselves and recognize the love?

Thank you child for showing us the openness that we all one-time knew

Your joyful face, a happy place, It feels just right for me

    G         DM7

Believe. Believe. (Chorus sings.)

Just look around, look at what you’ve done

No one’s mad, no one’s sad, we’re even having fun

    G         DM7

Believe. Believe. (Chorus sings.) (Twice. Then, music drops out completely.)

Production Details:

Verse 1 sung by:  Teddy , Elizabeth, Chris and Erin (8 lines to share)

Verse 2         Miss Baker          Mrs. Williams

Verse 3         Doug           Cheryl               Together

The “Believe” part is an opportunity to harmonize, glorify, and magnify this part of the song. Can it be done in 3 or 4 parts?       Consider a clap during the chorus section.

Staging:

As it’s introduced, a line-up of 9 kids face the audience and speak. When they finish and the music starts, the parents come onto stage and hug their kids, walking to side stage with them. The musical intro continues until they move. Verse by verse, the singers change. (Teachers in second, parents in the third.) But behind them should be a group of actors who move to the beat and support the energy of the song, swaying and stepping to and fro, as well as totally singing “Believe!”

Musically:  Key of D in chorus

This song has a verse and chorus with different rhythms and perhaps in different keys. The verses have felt like a funky style of rock. The chorus distinctly different.

The messages in the verses are very important, and shouldn’t be sacrificed by the volume of the band. Same with the first part of the chorus sections. But, the “Believe” sections should be full-on volume and feeling, supporting the blissfully, hopeful sentiment!
