Here are some details about the play:

  • There are speaking roles for at least 20 performers, along with a number of non-speaking roles.

  • It’s written with an intermission. The first half approaches 40 minutes; the second 30 minutes.

  • There are 10 songs in all.

  • There are two music CDs. One is music only and could be used for practice or the play’s production.

  • Its two settings feature ancient Athens (around 500 BC) and ancient Rome (around 50 AD).

Learning

This play provides an opportunity for children to learn many things about history, geography, government, economics,      and culture. The script was written by a grade school teacher who designed learning opportunities that corresponded to certain parts of the play. There are references to other resources as well, such as this one: Ancient Greeks. To find links to learning about ancient Rome, try this.
