Production Details:
This is a song crafted by the character Allison, who witnessed her dad’s strong rejection of others in his song, “Them and Us”. She and her friend Anita worked on this song to rebut the idea and to focus on the goodness in all of us. They sing it.
The entire choral section should join in the chorus, the band volume increases, and the dancers movements become sharper and more animated.
Staging:
Just the two lead singers will be on stage, joined by a small group of background dancers/singers. They would look great with subtle, coordinated, flowing movements.
Musically: Key of Gm
The verses should feel soulful, like a Motown sound. The chorus approaches funk, as it takes on a bit of emotion and conviction. The statement is huge: It’s NOT them and us. We want the music to support that; together, soulful, harmonious.
