Production Details:

This song is sung by Doug and by Cheryl, alternating verses. They are at their respective homes, singing to their children, who are confused by it. The chorus section is led by Doug and Cheryl along with the full chorus support.

Please note that this song, while it might be catchy and likable, DOES NOT represent the values we seek. This song represents the problem in the story! While we seek smooth execution, we don’t believe in the message!

Later, there is a song that directly rebuts this song: “It’s Not Them and Us”, which is in the same key, but has a distinctly different feel.

Staging:

The set is split between two houses, with both families present on each side.

Musically:  Key of Am.  90 bpm

The songs verses are written like a rap. Rhythmic support with minimal tonal complements. Also, while we’d like a pacing that moves along, the “rappers” are adults who may not be so familiar with the pacing. (We might need to be sensitive and adjust the speed.) The 90 beats per minute may seem slow, but it works. The chorus is melodic, unlike the verses.
