You Can Dance
C
If you can walk, you can dance
C
If you can move, you can stand
F
If you can talk, you can sing
G C
Let it be, naturally

F G C
You’ve known it from before your time had come
F G C
The heart is beating rhythms like a drum
F G C
Calling calling calling out your name
F G
Music’s flowing inside your veins
F G C
Sometimes things can get into your way
F G C
Interrupting how you choose to play
F G C
Could it be you’re thinking much too much?
F G
Let the music get you back in touch.
F G C
Can’t be too big, too slow, can’t be too tall
F G C
Can’t be too old, too shy, can’t be too small
F G C
Don’t be concerned what other people say
F G
And get your worried self out of the way
Production Details:
The chorus of this song lends itself to call and response in the first 3 of 4 lines. The younger students who are dancing sing the verse, the choral section echoes it.
Verses can be sung by all, or by selected students (non-actors okay).
Staging:
This will be a large group of younger students singing and dancing. It will be choreographed.
Musically: Key of C
This is the first song of the dance party. We want it to feel engaging. We want enough volume from the singers to allow a pulsing, reggae style beat throughout the song.
